Interesting reporting on the supposed intervention. The move to remove Zelaya was not a "coup" though. The Army's actions were justified by the Honduran Supreme Court, their Congress, and their constitution. President Zelaya's actions were not.

I can't judge the specific tactics of the intervention you detailed. Maybe they were justified and supportive of US interests, maybe not. More specifically, maybe the intervention was consistent with the Obama doctrine (whatever that is), maybe it was not.

In general, however, I can say that the US should NOT have been supporting the move to run rough-shod over the Honduran people. It's hard to gin up outrage on behalf of the likes of President Zelaya.

The role of US power seems pretty clear. There are a combination of Executive, Congress, lobbies, privately-funded far-rightist associations, etc. Now, Obama's Administration is going to covertly protect Gorilletti's ungovernment till to the next "election". It would be a difficult time for Honduran fighters. The Gorilletti's clique will try to coopt elements from the Frente Popular de Resistencia. Some people in left-wing parties may be tempted to partake in these elections (because not to partake will bring an overly rightist Congress). Moreover, elections will be the excuse for Obama to recognize a new government. I have doubt OAS will deffect then also Zelaya. A hard situation for the courageous Honduran people and, of course, for all Caribbean Peoples.
